The IASM & Scientifica Overview

The Combined meeting of 39th IASM and 9th Scientifica Conference
Established in 1971 at National Institute of Sports, Patiala: IASM has come along way in-

  • Guiding and assisting in the promotion of physical fitness among people and among sports fraternity
  • Conducting and publishing research and in organizing seminars, symposiums and workshops related to Sports Medicine & allied Sciences.
  • Establishing sports medicine centers or institutes in various states.

Sports medicine involves sports scientists specialized in Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Psychology, Sports Nutrition, Sports Biomechanics, Training Methods, Rehabilitation and research to provide scientific input in offering valuable service to the elite and budding sports persons.

“Knowledge is of no use unless you put it into practice” hence Sports medicine makes an effort of theoretically and practically analyzing the influence of the movement and training of sports which is useful in prevention, therapy and rehabilitation.

Scientifica is a National level conference for undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy students which provide them the opportunity to discuss their own research and encourage their innovative thinking by exposing them to current research done by their peers and seniors.

The main aspect of Scientifica is to motivate aspiring Physiotherapist in bringing the acquired theory in clinical practice, with the scientific foundations in accordance with evidence-based physiotherapy practice; in other words, “applying what has been learned”.

5 reasons for why to attend and participate in scientifica-
  • Contribute and learn about the most recent advances in the physiotherapy field.
  • Advocate and implement your scienctific knowledge into practice.
  • Building up the confidence and learn how to present the research data.
  • Contribute to overall research profile.
  • Meet other researchers in the field and potential contacts for future positions.
